First determine the total number of valence electrons needed for the N5+ structure, which is 5x5-1=24.

Just count the number of sigma bonds and lone pairs and there sum would tell you the hybridisation.

Example:   H-C≡C-H

here carbon is joined with another carbon with 1 sigma and 2 pi bonds. And it is also joined with hydrogen atom with one sigma bond.

Total sigma bonds = 2

hybridisation of carbon atom is sp.

For N₅⁺

:N ≡ N⁺ - :N:⁻ - N⁺ ≡ N:

Central nitrogen atom has 2 lone pairs and is joined by 2 sigma bonds

2+2=4

so, Hybridisation of central nitrogen atom is sp3
