In 1878 as per the decisionade in Berlin conference, Bosnia and Herzegovina were to be taken over by Austria Hungary but it did not.

But the inhabitants were mostly Serbians who wanted integration with Serbia.

In 1908 against the treaty Austria took over region. This widened the gap between Serbians and Austria.

At this stage on June 28,1914 at Serajevo which is capital of Bosnia, The prince Francis Ferdinand and his wife Isabella were murdered by a serbian

Therefore on July 28,1914 Austria declared war on Serbia.
This marked the beginning of 1st World War.
