The immediate provocation of World War I was:-
On 28th June 1914, a Bosnian Serb assassinated "Prince Archduke Franz Ferdinand" of Austria-Hungary. Austria asked Serbia for explanation on this, but Serbia gave an unsatisfactory reply. Then Austria declared a war on Serbia for unsatisfactory reply of Serbia.
