Himalayas protects the south Asian region from the cold and chilly winds originating near the Arctic Circle which blow over central Asia. Thus, the Himalayas save south Asian countries from the severity of cold during winter and check moisture laden monsoon winds during summer and helps in bringing plenty of rainfall. If there were no Himalayas, then the climate of this region would have been hot and dry in summer and cold and dry during winter. Due to the impact of the Himalayas, South Asian countries have characteristic features of tropical climate.
