It is important to make a full copy of the chromosomes because each daughter cell needs to receive chromosomes that are alike in composition and equal in number to the chromosomes of the parent cell. The daughter cells are exact copies of the parent cell which ensures they will function correctly.

During interphase there is replication in the chromosomes which are required during the division cycle

Explanation:

  • There is replication of the chromosome in the interphase.
  • The number of chromosome should be same for all the chromosome of a particular spicies. Hence the division of chromosome is a must in the interphase.
  • This is to maintain the uniform chromosome number in all the cells.
  • Therefore chromosomes are double in the interphase and they are divided into two in the division part of the cell cycle and hence the chromosome number is maintained.
  • As a result interphase is very important.
