Right to equality is one of the six fundamental rights in the Indian constitution. It includes equality before law, prohibition of discrimination on grounds of race, religion, gender, and caste or birth place. It also includes equality of opportunity in matters of employment, abolition of untouchability and titles.

Ans ) Our constitution does not promise Equality in all respects ( like income or property) but it seeks to ensure that all the people will enjoy the same status - that is , every one will be governed by the same laws . Secondly, it promises Equality of 'opportunity' . This means that all public offices shall be open to all, irrespective of caste or religion. If an office requires special qualifications, access to that qualification too will be made equal to all.
