The point is known as Zero Longitude and it is the line from which all other lines of longitude are measured. The Royal Observatory, home of GreenwichMean Time and the Prime Meridian lines is one of the mostimportant historic scientific sites in the world.

Hi.
The Best answer for your question is.
----------------------------------------------------------
You know Prime meridian is a longitude. All longitudes are of same importance but with the help of prime meridian(0°longitude) we can navigate whether we are going east or west. You may say prime meridian is the boundary line of East and West on the earth.

It is also helpful in determining time zone . As we go in eastward direction from prime meridian the time increases by 4 minute per degree of longitude and it decreases by 4 minute per degree of longitude if we go west of the prime meridian.
Hope this Helps.
Bye))))
