Hello

n diploid organisms, meiosis occurs by the formation of gametes (sperm and egg). These gametes are haploid cells, containing only one set of chromosomes. These gametes unite during fertilization, which helps in restoring the diploid number.

Hope it helps

haploid cell is the cell which contains one set of chromosomes...they are usually the gamete cells...
in diploid organisms...sperms and ova are haploid...which during fertilisation unites and forms the diploid cell again..

hope this helps....
