DECOMPOSERS AND SCAVENGERS BREAK DOWN DEAD PLANTS AND ANIMALS . THEY ALSO BREAK DOWN THE WASTE OF THE OTHER ORGANISMS. DECOMPOSERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR AN ECOSYSTEM . IF THEY WEREN'T IN THE ECOSYSTEM , THE PLANT DIDN'T GET ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS , AND THAT MATTER AND WASTE WOULD PILE UP .

Fungi help in reducing decomposed plants and animals. ii) Heterotrophs help in recycling activity which is essential in lowering wastes in the environment.The micro-organisms which break down the complex organic substances into simple inorganic substances e.g. bacteria, fungi. Decomposers decompose the complex substances into simple ones so that plants can use it again.
