Answer:

In its traditional form, it is worn by women to maintain modesty and privacy from unrelated males. According to the Encyclopedia of Islam and Muslim World, modesty in the Quran concerns both men's and women's "gaze, gait, garments, and genitalia." The Qur'an instructs Muslim women to dress modestly.

Hijab definition:

Hijab is an Arabic word meaning barrier or partition. In Islam, however, it has a broader meaning. It is the principle of modesty and includes behaviour as well as dress for both males and females. The most visible form of hijab is the head covering that many Muslim women wear.

Explanation:

Muslims believe on the word la ilaha illallah muhammadur rasulullah which means There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the messenger of God. They follow Quran (sayings of Allah) and Hadith ( the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Therefore, lets see what their religious book and the last Prophet says.

What does the Muslims Scripture Says about Hijab?

  • “Say to the believing men that: they should cast down their glances and guard their private parts (by being chaste). This is better for them.” (24:30)

This is a command to Muslim men that they should not lustfully look at women (other than their own wives); and in order to prevent any possibility of temptation, they are required to cast their glances downwards. This is known as “hijab of the eyes”.

  • Say to the believing women that: they should cast down their glances and guard their private parts (by being chaste)…” (24:30)

This is a similar command as given to the men in the previous verse regarding “hijab of the eyes”.

  • “...and not display their beauty except what is apparent, and they should place their khumur over their bosoms...” (24:30)

Khumur خُمُرٌ is plural of khimarخِمَارٌ , the veil covering the head. According to the Arabic dictionary like Lisanu ’l-‘Arab, Majma‘u ’l-Bahrayn or al-Munjid.

  • “O Prophet! Say to your wives, your daughters, and the women of the believers that: they should let down upon themselves their jalabib.” (33:59).

Jalabib جَلاَبِيْبٌ is the plural of jilbabجِلْبَابٌ , which means a loose outer garment. This means that the Islamic dress code for women does not only consist of a scarf that covers the head, the neck and the bosom; it also includes the overall dress that should be long and loose.

What the Hadith says about Hijab?

Umm Salamah reported: While we were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, Ibn Maktum was given permission to enter. He entered and that was after the command to veil. The Prophet said, “Veil yourselves from him.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, is he not blind? He cannot see or recognize us.” The Prophet said, “Are you blind such that you cannot see him?”

Importance of hijab in Islam:

According to my research, I have discovered that wearing hijab is a positive thing. It avoids plethora of evilness and protects a person from all harms and evils. It makes a person noble and pure.

Muslims say, Islam is a religion of peace so according to the above references hijab stops a person from many crimes and evils which are discussed below.

Nowadays following crimes are increasing which affects a victim both physically, emotionally and psychologically while Islam prohibits all of them and asks for hijab and peace.

The examples of crimes and evils increasing these days are:

  • Rapping
  • kidnapping
  • sexual harassment
  • Sexual abuse
  • fornication
  • fake love / flirting
  • Cheating on life partners.
  • Cheating on a boy /a girl friend
  • Crush on a wrong and bad person etc.

Just made a research.

I hope it helps.

Thank You
