(i) The Himalayan Yew is a medicinal plant found in various parts of Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
(ii) A chemical compound called 'toxol' is obtained from the barks, needles, twigs and roots of this tree, which is used, for the treatment of Cancers.
(iii) This species is under threat due to over exploitation. In the last one decade, thousands of yew trees have dried up in parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
