India is a land of rivers. Rivers are important part of Indians. Most parts of India are drenched by river. In such a case rivets are used not only as sources of water and irrigation but also as a source of electricity. River water can be used in India to meet the electricity demand thus the hydro electric power plant of great importance in India. There are several multi purpose river valley project in India like Bhakra-Nangal river project. Also hydroelectricity is widely used in India for meeting the electricity demand.
