The ocean regulates rain and droughts. With holding 97% of the water of our planet, almost all rain that drops on land comes from the ocean. The ocean absorbs CO2, to keep the carbon cycle, and accordingly temperatures on earth, in balance. It makes the ocean our global climate control system.

Oceans are the lifeblood of planet Earth and humankind. They flow over nearly three-quarters of our planet, and hold 97% of the planet's water. They produce more than half of the oxygen in the atmosphere, and absorb the most carbon from it.
