Organic farming, as a practice, has two schools that somewhat differ in their mode of operation but aim to achieve similar results - traditional and biotechnological. While the traditional mode of organic farming resorts to ancient methods that have endured the test of time, biotechnological mode hopes to exploit the emerging fields to offset the harmful effects of industrial farming through methods such as bioremediation and others. The aim of organic farming is to reduce and ultimately cease the use of pesticides, industrial fertilizers, excessive irrigation and other methods that exert stress on the environment and replace all such activities with ecologically suited practices such as crop rotation, use of biofertilizers, manures and such.
