The importance of rivers in India are as follows:

1.They help in irrigation of the field of farmers.
2.They provide water for pisciculture, which sustain many livelihoods.
3. They provide places of tourism. e.g. Dal lake
4. Rivers provide routes for transportation.
5. They provide water for drinking and domestic use
6. About 22% electricity in India is generated through hydropower projects

here most of the peoples practice agriculture.

So , River is very important for them to grow

crops.

River is used to irrigate cultivated land.

especially in North India, in plains area river

plays very important role.

Most common rivers of India are Barahmputra , Ganga , yamuna , etc....
