The silver candlesticks were very important in the play The Bishop's Candlesticks. It plays a pivotal role because the main course of actions are centred around it.It's importance can be first felt when we come to know that they were a gift to the Bishop and his sister Persome by their mother, when the latter was in her death bed. Secondly, they were extremely expensiv e as they were made of silver. They are a reason behind the change in plot. The convict had come to eat food at the Bishop's. However, at night, he stole the candlesticks. This incidence became the turning point of the convict's life because after this, when he was caught for stealing, he was given a choice to change his life by the Bishop. The convict became a completely changed man because of the entire incident.
