It is very important because of
1. Arrangement of time in India.
2. It shows and fixed a same time of a country.
3. A country may have many longitude in between and there is a time gap of 4 minutes between each longitude.
4. For example : the time gap between the western part of Gujarat and eastern part of arunachal Pradesh is 2 hours , so there is a lot of confusion in whole country.
