Dear Student,

◆ Tubular secretion -

  • Transfer of substances from peritubular capillaries into tubular lumen.
  • Hydrogen ion, potassium ion and other ions are secreted by tubules.

# Importance of tubular secretion -

  1. Tubular secretion removes excretion of potassium.
  2. It acts as buffer to maintain pH of the blood.
  3. It excretes unwanted substances (urea, uric acid) from the body.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..

Importance of tubular secretion:

  • 'Tubular secretion' is the process of transportation of materials from 'peritubular capillaries' to the 'renal tubular lumen' which can be seen in the process of reabsorption.
  • The secretion is caused mainly by active transport and passive diffusion. By this process, the blood is filtered to produce a clear liquid.
  • Hence tubular secretion is most important and has to be maintained normal for normal blood filtration process and the normal excretion process.
