Ozone is the Earth’s natural protector for all its life forms. It shields our planet from the UV radiations, as these ultraviolet rays are harmful for all the living things.Any change in the size of this layer will automatically affect the life of people, plants and animals living on earth.
Our star, the sun constantly gives off UV rays which are harmful for us and cause high mortality rate of infants before birth, skin cancer, etc.
Luckily, the stratosphere in our upper atmosphere has a layer of O₃ called as Ozone Layer. It absorbs the UV rays entering in our atmosphere. Without it, the life on Earth wouldn't be possible as everything would have burned away to Ultra Violet Radiation.
This is why presence of Ozone in atmosphere of Earth is an important function.
