HayatSarsalmaz: HCL is the stomach acid which creates acidic conditions inside the stomach for digestion. Pepsin and amylase acts as helping enzymes while the mucus forms a layer inside the stomach wall to protect it from the stomach acid HCL. Hcl is important as it is used to break down carbohydrates, fats i.e. digestion purposes.
