The Digital Evolution Index was introduced in 2015. It aims to trace the evolution of a digital planet. It reviews how digitally mediated interactions have displaced the physical interactions in the fields of communication, commerce, political and social exchange, media and entertainment. There are many places in the world where these changes are taking place rapidly and other places where the momentum is slow.
The Digital Evolution Index has been created in collaboration with Mastercard and the Fletcher School at Tufts. It analyses the rate and state of digital evolution in 60 countries. India has been given the 53rd rank in 2017.
