The value of  the integration of dr by r square is  - 1 / r  +  C

Given: \int\limits {1/r^2} \, dr

To Find: The value of \int\limits {1/r^2} \, dr.

Solution:

  • We can solve the question using the formula,

              \int\limits {x^n} \, dx = x^{n+1}/(n+1)                                ...(1)

Coming to the numerical, we are given;

        \int\limits {1/r^2} \, dr

   ⇒  \int\limits {r^-2} \, dr

Now, using (1), we can say that;

   ⇒   r^( -2 + 1 ) / ( -2 + 1 )

   ⇒   r^-1 / (-1)

   ⇒   - 1 / r  +  C                          [ Where C = constant of integration ]

Hence, the value of  the integration of dr by r square is  - 1 / r  +  C
