In case of phosphorus, it has fully filled 'p' orbital. ... In case of sulphur,it has one unpaired electron in' s' orbital. comparatively it is quite easy to remove an electron from 's' orbital(since it has only one electron). Thus, phosphorus is having more ionisation energy than sulphur.
