John A. Pescud thinks that the stories in bestsellers are quite unrealistic; a man finding love in a woman high above his social status, or maybe perhaps even from a different country and fighting against the world for her love. But the irony is,  the lovestory of Pescud is similar to that of the bestsellers. For his love, he travels across the country, she turns out to be from a higher society and he works hard to win her father's favour.

In the story best seller, John A Pescud says that he don't like the series of Best Sellers coz they mix scenes and characters that does not happen in our real life. Whereas his own story is also similar to any of the best seller. He is a common American sales man and his wife belongs to the royal family of Belted Earls. So, here this is the irony.

hope it helps
