What is the irony in the the title of play 'the dear departed'?

The title of play is ironical because in the beginning of the play we came to know that grandfather Mr. Abel Merry Weather has departed from this world but he was not dear to his own daughter . he was an unbearable burden for his own daughters and were not paid and dissapointed for their father's death.Amelia whom with he was living fetches his clock , bureau and slippers but her sister elizabeth was no less she claimed that grandfather has promised his old watch to jimmy . Death of father triggles the quarrel between two sisters . No one loves the departed one rather they awaits his death to grab his assets . Thus we can say that title of play is an ironical statement .
