What is the irony of reference to god's own country in matsyagandhhi
Answers
Answer:
Isn't it ironic that a communist state like Kerala is called God's own country?
'God's own country' logo was adopted by Tourism Department of the Kerala Government in 1980s to promote tourism in Kerala. The same expression is used in several places of the world including Ireland, USA, Australia and Zimbabwe in Africa.
It is also believed that Lord Parasuraman created Kerala for His supporters by throwing His axe. He was the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu as per mythology. Kerala is a land of worshipers of Lord Krishna and many temples are dedicated to the Lord. The famous Guruvayur and Padmanabha Temples are in Kerala. So it is natural that it is called God's own country to promote tourism.
However, the Constitution of India provides for a secular State where both believers and non-believers can coexist. Thus it is not unusual that a Communist Government rules Kerala. Infact most supporters of Left Democratic Front are from majority Hindu community. The United Democratic Front get their support from minority Christian and Islam communities.
Freedom of Religion is a Fundamental Right under Articles 25–28 of the Constitution of India and she is a diverse country where many communities coexist.
