Kamla das feels that her mother has grown very pale and weak . She looks as pale as death . She realises that her mother is not going to live long. And when she is driving to the Cochin Airport her mother is sitting beside her and she realises that she will never see her mother again. The childhood is that .... she will never see her mother again and never hug her.

I hope I'm helping you.

The poet feels a kind of helpless pain aroused by the thought of unavoidable separation from her old mother, owing to the mother's impending depth. It was similar to her insecurities that she had felt as a child.

Her ache results out of a sense of guilt for not looking after her mother properly.

Hope it helps!
