The energy of a body due to its motion is called Kinetic energy.

The kinetic energy of a moving body is measured by the amount of work it can do before coming to rest.

Formula for finding kinetic energy:

Kinetic energy= 1/2 mv²
Where, m= mass of the body
v= velocity of the body or speed of the body

From this formula
i) the kinetic energy of a body is directly proportional to the mass of the body.
ii) the kinetic energy of a body is directly proportional to the square of velocity of the body.

If the mass of a body is doubled its kinetic energy also gets doubled and if the mass of a body is halved its kinetic energy also get Halved.

If the velocity of a body is doubled , its kinetic energy becomes 4 times and if the velocity of a body is Halved , then it's kinetic energy becomes one fourth.
