What is the largest number ever known in the universe?Don't SPAM

VedaantArya: Say, when we're arguing about the number of kitten videos there are on YouTube, I'd say a big number, say 99999999999999..., and as many 9's as I could say before taking a breath. You would say "Whatever you said, with these behind it: 999999...", until you're out of breath.
This isn't gonna stop, as long as one of us, or some good Samaritan intervenes, and say, "Infinite".
VedaantArya: By that, that person would simply mean, that there are as many videos as we can't count - as closer we try to get to a real number - if there is one - we'd keep discovering there are bigger numbers. Infinity refers to that - the endless growth into really big numbers - that we don't bother to represent anymore (knowing that they are, actually, infinite).
VedaantArya: I don't know of any such relation between the symbol and the meaning. I don't think there should actually be such a thing, since infinity's symbol is basically a tilted 8, and any logic we apply that, say, this curve is closed and never ending, it would also apply to 8 - but 8 isn't endless or anything.
manasiriya2003: Yes u r corrct I was also thinking like this but till now I didnt get any logic but maybe there is a logic behind its symbol and its meaning.
manasiriya2003: And that logic is well known by the person who discovered this word infinity . According to me there should be a logic behind everything in maths whether it's about symbols or units.
manasiriya2003: BTW thanks for spreading such great knowledge to me..
VedaantArya: I'm pretty sure there isn't - and honestly, I don't think it matters either.
Also, a side-note: Googolplex is definitely not the largest number. Simply raise 10 to the power of googolplex, and that to the power of googolplex, and you've got yourself a bigger number. Oh, and for fun, add 1 to the number, so that it's even BIGGER!
manasiriya2003: Ok thnxz
VedaantArya: Surely there is, but when you're talking about mathematics, it doesn't matter a lot. In some cases, like the use of dx and dy/dx and stuff in integration and all is rather convenient, and neatly accounts some properties, but I'd personally not consider dwelling on the aesthetics as related to Math.
BTW, John Wallis introduced the symbol. There isn't much on his Wiki though.
You're welcome :)
manasiriya2003: Ok thnxz a lottt and btw i have not yet studied integration and calculus.. I m just 10th student..
