ANSWER

Lateral Inversion of an Image

The phenomenon of apparent reversal of the mirror image's left and right when compared with the object is called lateral inversion.

Cause of Lateral Inversion

In a plane mirror, the image is as far behind the mirror as the object is in front of it and that the front of the image and the front of the object face each other. This is the cause of lateral inversion in plane mirror.

Lateral inversion is a property of a mirror . It can be defined as the change in sides in image of a body in mirror .For eg.-if you will see your image in a mirror , and lift your left hand ,then your image will lift it's right hand.

The front of the body is facing the front of the image ,and this leads to lateral inversion
