It is the biggest latitude.Equator is 0° latitude. In the north of 0°Latitude, there are 90 latitudes and in the south also 90 latitudes are marked. After a Northern latitude, letter N is added and in the same manner when we mention a Southern latitude, letter S is added to show its location in Northern or Southern Hemisphere. 90°N Latitude is a point, not a circle, and known as North Pole. In the same way, 90°S Latitude is also a point, not a circle, and known as South Pole. So there are total 179 main longitudes on a globe. All latitudes are marked parallel to each other so they are also called parallels.The gap between two degrees is divided into 60 minutes. It is marked with ( ' ) sign.

According to latitudes, India is in Northern Hemisphere. It extends between 8°4′N to 37°6′N. Its southern extent is 8°4′N and northern extent is 37°6′N.
