The latitudinal and longitudinal extent of India is approximately the same.

It is advantageous because :-

1. It gives India a prominent place at the head of Indian Ocean with access to the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal

2. It helps in easy sea trade between West Asia, Africa, European countries

3. Longer coastline means more no of sea ports for more trade.

4. Marine life is a source of livelihood for the residents near the coastline.

5. More no of offshore mineral resources and oil refineries can be set up.
