BR = 3 cm, AR = 4 cm, AC = 11 cm

To find: the length of BC.

Solution:

Know that, tangents from an external point are always equal.

Therefore,  

BR = BP = 3 cmAR = AQ = 4 cm

Understand that,

QC = AC- AQ

     = 11 - 4 \\= 7 cm

Observe the image that QC and PC are tangent of a common external point. then,

QC = PC = 7 cm

Find the length of BC.

BC = BP+PC

      = 3 + 7\\\\ = 10 cm.

Hence, the length of BC is 10 cm.
