You can use the Pythagoras theorem to solve this problem.

According to the pythagoras theorem,

hypotenuse^2=land^2+perpendicular^2

therefore,

hypotenuse^2= 3^2 + 4^2

=> hypotenuse^2 = 9+16

=> hypotenuse^2= 25

=> hypotenuse= 5 ( square root)

So, the length of the diagonal is 5cm.
