SOLUTION - 1 :

Given,

Sum of two numbers = 95

one exceeds the other by 15

let one number be x

Another number = x + 15

According to the problem,

x + x + 15 = 95

2x = 95 - 15

2x = 80

x = 80/2

x = 40

One number = x = 40

Another = x + 15 = 95

SOLUTION - 2 :

Given,

Ratio of two numbers = 5:3

difference between the two numbers = 18

let the ratios be 5x and 3x

According to the problem,

5x - 3x = 18

2x = 18

x = 18/2

x = 9

One number = 5x = 5(9) = 45

Another number = 3x = 3(9) = 27
