Answer: The given compound is an organic compound because it consist of both carbon and hydrogen. there are millions of organic compounds are there in our nature. So these compounds have to be named and their naming or nomenclature was done by IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry). According to IUPAC there is a a root word for organic compounds based on the no.of carbon atoms.

e.g.if the no.of carbon atom is one then root word is meth. for two carbon atom it is ‘eth’. These word root can be used as prefixes. Similarly

Next we check if the compound is alkane/alkene or alkyne. Given compound is alkane so root word end with ‘ane’.
