But since work is not the property of a system, if the path followed by the system encloses some area, then there will be some net work transfer.
If the system follows few discrete processes, such as in a Carnot cycle, then the network can be found by summing up the work transfers in each process.
So, the cyclic integral of work gives the net work transfer in a system executing a cycle.
