It consists of mercury as a liquid filled in a glass tube. On the body of the glass tube, calibrated marks are provided which facilitates the reading of temperature. A bulb is formed at one end of the thermometer which contains the largest part of mercury

Answer:

Mercury

Explanation:

Mercury is the only metal which is in liquid form at natural temperature and due to this property it is being used in thermometer to measure the temperature. With rise in temperature due to capillary action it rises and indicates a measurement on the scale.  Its chemical symbol is Hg and its atomic number is 80.
