• The Gram Panchayat - Its head is the Sarpanch.

• The Panchayat Samiti or The Block Committe or The Mandal - Its head is the Block Pramukh.

• Zila Parishad - Its head is the Zila Parishad Chairperson.

The local government for urban areas is known as :

• Municipality - It is for towns. Its head is the Municipal Chairperson.
