Given : Point D is at negative 4 and point F is at 9 .  point G, partitions the directed line segment from F to D into an 8:5 ratio

To find : location of point G

Solution:

F  =  9

D = - 4

Difference Between F & D  = 9 -(-4)  = 13

point G partitions the directed line segment from F to D into an 8:5 ratio

=> Distance from F  =  (8/(8 + 5)) * 13 = 8

   Distance from  D = (5/(8 + 5)) * 13 = 5

9 - 8  =  1   or  -4  + 5  =  1

Location of point G = 1

option A is correct

Other way

G  Divided  9   &  - 4  in 8 :  5

so G  =   ( 8  *  ( - 4)   +   5 (9) ) / ( 8 + 5)

= (-32 + 45 )/13

= 13/13

= 1

Location of point G = 1
