on the first column  separate the 4 blocks into two groups ...

group 1 =as 11 and 17

group 2 as 25 and 19

find the difference of the numbers in each group

group 1 difference = 6  ... (17-11)

group 2 difference = -6  ..... (19-25)

repeat this with the second column ... split the four blocks into 2 groups

group 3 difference = 6  ..... (12-6)

group 4 difference = -6  .....(28-34)

repeat for third column ... but in this case the block with no value should be labelled as x as we can find this using difference :

group 5 difference = ?..... (x-8)

group 6 difference = -8 .... (11-19)

using this pattern that since group 6 has -8 as the difference then group 5 will have the opposite which is a difference of 8

therefore x-8 = 8

   x = 8+ 8

x = 16
