what is the logic behind the heavy breathing as we climb up the mountain?

As the climb up the mountain, the density of air becomes less as air is settled down at lower altitudes. This also decreases pressure.
Carbon dioxide in our body is responsible for giving the signal to breathe in and when we get less oxygen we are forced to breathe high.
