Resistances 4 ohm, 8 ohm, 12 ohm and 24 ohm  

To find,

The lowest resistance that can be obtained by combining four coils.

Solution,

When the resistors are connected in parallel, the result we get is the lowest resistance. In parallel combination,

\dfrac{1}{R}=\dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{8}+\dfrac{1}{12}+\dfrac{1}{24}\\R=2\ \Omega

Hence, the lowest resistance is 2 ohms.
