In its ground state, The electronic configuration of Chromium is 4s¹ 3d⁵.

So, the d-orbital has 5 unpaired electrons.

Magnetic moment = √(n)(n+2)
                             = √(5)(5+2)
                             = √(5x7)
                             = √(35)
                             = 5.91 Bohr magneton

sauravos26: its root under 48
siril: ya....sorry my bad....i'll edit the answer in a second.....i totally forgot about the unpaired electron in 4s sub shell'
siril: yes it is under root 48, sorry for it .....i cannot find the edit link.
sauravos26: no problem , but thanks for the solution it gave me the idea how to slove it . thanks
siril: welcome. im happy it was helpful
