Magnification is defined as ratio to a image height to object height, which can be mathematically proven to be same as ratio of image distance to object distance.

Magnification of a mirror is used in many cases. Generally the convex mirror has magnification greater than 1 and magnification of concave mirror has less than 1. With magnification greater than 1, as the image size is greater than object size. And with magnifications less than 1, image size is less than one.  

In case of plane mirror, the image size produced is same as that object size. So, the magnification of plane mirror is ONE.

In case of plane mirror, the image produced is erect, virtual, and it is equal in size to that of the object. So, Magnification comes to 1.
