Magnitude of i cap + j cap equals :

√{(i.i) + (j.j) }=√[1+1]=√2

Or one can also say √{[(coefficient of i cap)^2+[coefficient of j cap]^2}=√2

i is the Magnitude of the vector along x axis direction and j is the Magnitude of the vector along y axis direction.

DIRECTION :

Let the angle made by the resultant with the x axis be β

Tan β = | i|/|j | = 1/1 = 1

β = π/4 = 45°..
