By International standard the Standard Atmospheric pressure is 1013.2 hecto-Pascal (hPa) or 75.99 cm of mercury. At an altitude of 100,000 Ft it is 1.74 cm of mercury. Beyond an altitude of 15,000 Ft while climbing mountains it is difficult to breathe; one must carry oxygen. Aircraft can fly at high altitudes as they have a pressurized cabin and have enough oxygen for passenger to breathe.
