the basic cause for the flowing if the wind is the high pressure and low pressure areas created by the heating of the sun. The wind blows from high pressure to low pressure. The treveleni district in tamil nadu commercially harnesses the wind energy.

The most basic cause for winds to blow is the existence of a pressure difference between two locations on the earth. A wind is nothing but movement of gases from one place to another. So when there is a low pressure area the gases from high pressure area move to occupy that area and hence the wind blows.

In India wind energy is harnessed in the following states:  Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Gujarat,         Karnataka, Andhra pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala and Rajasthan.

If you were to visit KANYAKUMARI, the farthest point of the india mainland, you can see wind farms in the way and also in distance from the VIVEKANAND MEMORIAL.
