federal:

1)the constitution is flexible

2)there is uniformity of law

3)there is horizontal distribution of power-between legislative,executive and judiciary

4)there is vertical division of power-between supreme court,high court,district court and the local courts

5)power accommodation and power sharing

6)the power is not vested in one hand

7)democracy works efficiently

8)administration can be done easily

unitary:

1)there is less autonomy for the states
