What is the main difference between diffusion and osmosis?

Osmosis occurs across a semi permeable membrane while diffusion does not!

diffusion is the movement of material from higher concentration towards lower concentration.
osmosis is the movement of material from lower to higer concentration through a selective permiable membrane
